Dubai from India: how many days, what to book and what a trip costs
Dubai is a short flight from most Indian cities, easy to get around, and works for almost every kind of group: families with children, couples, friends and older parents. It can be as expensive as you let it be, so the trick is choosing which attractions to pay for and mixing them with the many free ones.
How many days do you need?
Four days is enough for a first trip: one day for Downtown (Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and the fountain show), one for old Dubai and the souks, one for a desert safari, and one for a theme park or a day trip to Abu Dhabi. Five or six days lets you add a second theme park or simply slow down, which helps with children in the heat.
What a trip costs
For a couple flying from Delhi and staying in a midrange hotel, a 4-day Dubai trip in December comes to about ₹2,03,000, or ₹1,01,500 per person. That covers return flights, the hotel, food, local transport, the attractions we pick for you, the visa, travel insurance and a 10% buffer. Attractions are a bigger share of the cost in Dubai than in most places, so the ones you choose change the total a lot.

Attractions worth paying for
- Burj Khalifa, At the Top: about ₹4,022 per adult. Sunset slots cost more and sell out, so book ahead.
- Desert safari with BBQ dinner: about ₹3,570, usually with hotel pickup.
- Dhow dinner cruise at Dubai Marina: about ₹2,856.
- Dubai Frame, a cheaper view over old and new Dubai: about ₹1,190.
- Theme parks such as IMG Worlds of Adventure (about ₹8,687) or Aquaventure Waterpark (about ₹8,306) each take a full day.
- Abu Dhabi day trip for the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (free entry) and Qasr Al Watan palace: about ₹5,950 with transport.
Free things to do
Some of the best parts of Dubai cost nothing: the Dubai Fountain show in the evening, walking around Al Fahidi and taking an abra boat across the creek to the old souks, Jumeirah and Kite Beach, and an evening walk along Dubai Marina. Global Village and Miracle Garden are open from about October to May and cost little.
When to go
November to March is the best time: pleasant days in the mid-20s °C, festivals and all the outdoor attractions open. It is also the most expensive. April, May and October are warm. June to September is very hot, often above 40°C, but hotels are heavily discounted, and indoor attractions and water parks still work well.
Visa for Indians
Most Indian passport holders need a visa for the UAE. A 30-day tourist e-visa costs about ₹7,500 per person and is usually arranged through an airline, a travel agent or your hotel. Apply at least a week before you travel.
Tips that save money
- Use the Dubai Metro with a Nol card for Downtown, the Marina and the airport.
- Buy combo tickets for attractions you know you will visit; they're often cheaper than single tickets.
- Eat in Karama, Bur Dubai or Deira, where Indian restaurants are good and cheap.
- Travel in the summer months if you're happy to plan around the heat.
